About Us
The Andaman & Nicobar Islands is a Union Territory with a Single Parliamentary Constituency. The Union Territory is administered by the Hon'ble Lt. Governor and has three (03) Districts. The Election Department is headed by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Office of CEO is located at the Secretariat, Port Blair. The CEO is assisted by the Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Joint Chief Electoral Officer and Deputy Chief Electoral Officer. The concerned Deputy Commissioners of Districts function as the District Election Officer (DEO) of the District for conduct of Parliamentary Elections.
Deputy Commissioner South Andaman is Returning Officer of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency. The Additional District Magistrate (South Andaman) is the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) for all the three (03) Districts of the UT and he is assisted by Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) posted at tehsil level. The major work of electoral machinery in the UT is to preparation of Electoral Roll, issue of Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) and conduct of Parliamentary Election.
The 26-Andaman & Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency (ANIPC) has 407 polling stations spread across 348 polling station locations. As per final Electoral Roll published on 01.01.2019 the number of total electors is 294435, out of which 154829 are male electors, 139595 are female electors and 11 are other electors.
The ERO further added 23433 electors after publication of the electoral roll as on 01.01.2019 as on 25.03.2019 the last date of nomination to the Lok Sabha Election - 2019. The total electors are now 317878.
